Szymon Kozlowski in 2025

Professor Szymon Kozłowski (born 1979) is a Polish astrophysicist working at the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw, Poland. His main field of research is the variability of active galactic nuclei (quasars), where he has made significant contributions (36 refereed papers with over 3,000 citations). He has also conducted research on gravitational microlensing, extrasolar planets, and variable stars. In total, he is the author or co-author of nearly 400 refereed publications, cited over 17,000 times; his h-index is 68. Link to Google Scholar.

Szymon Kozłowski has been interested in meteorites since the early 1990s and purchased his first specimens in 2000. Today, his collection includes over 200 meteorites of nearly all types, along with approximately 30 thin sections and several SEM samples. He is also a founding member of the Polish Meteoritical Society. Since 2023, he has been popularizing meteorites on YouTube through his channel In the Astronomer’s Office (in Polish).
